Scoop the Poop: A Stormwater Public Safety Announcement
From 2012 to 2015, the Falmouth DPW Engineering Division had AmeriCorps Cape Cod member volunteering in their office 2 days each week, assisting them the Federal National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) program at no cost to the Town. The AmeriCorps member’s job is to assist the Town in developing public education and outreach programs about stormwater pollution; and mapping the stormwater systems which are both required under the NPDES permitting process.
Corps Members Sara Cawley and Kelsey Boyd created a ’Scoop the Poop’ PSA, featuring spunky Labrador retriever Henry as Falmouth’s own ‘Stormwater Detective.’
Special thanks to the FCTV staff, The Falmouth Dog Parks, Inc., AmeriCorps Cape Cod, Keith Hopkins, a certain theatrically-inclined Falmouth DPW Superintendent, and especially to Mike Carroll and our star, Henry: P.I.
The Department of Public Works Engineering Division has placed storm drain markers and/or stencils in front of storm drains around the Town to help remind everyone that these drains flow into our ponds, streams, and harbors!
