Potential Crown Circle Historic District

The Falmouth Historical Commission is exploring the possibility of creating a historic district for the Crown Circle area. This initiative is only exploratory at this point, the Commission is not taking any action to create a historic district on its own. Rather, that decision will be made by the property owners in the area and the Historical Commission will support any final decision.

The Historical Commission has held three public informational meetings (June 15, 2022, August 3, 2022, and October 1, 2022) to provide a summary of the town's local historic districts, explain the rationale for adopting a district, outline the Historical Commission's roles and responsibilities, and to highlight the process of establishing a district. The meeting materials and videos can be found below.

Resident Survey

Now that we’ve held three public meetings (June 15th, August 3rd, and October 1st) and received a lot of very helpful feedback, the Commission is now asking you to fill out a survey so we can determine the next steps. The survey can be filled out online or the paper copy enclosed can be mailed back to the Falmouth Planning Department – you choose which way is best for you. Please note, we will only accept one survey from each property owner and the survey will close on December 31, 2022.

Based on the input received during the public meetings, the Commission decided to reduce the size of the potential district – removing the western portion of the area, including all of Deacons Avenue. Survey question #5 includes a picture showing the proposed district boundaries.
