To protect, preserve and improve the Town's infrastructure and related assets in aDepartment of Public Works Highway Icon manner which meets and enhances the current and future social and economic needs of the community and contributes to a healthy, safe and quality environment for the Town's citizens and visitors.

Services

Road Maintenance

The Highway division is responsible for the maintenance of 218 miles of town accepted roads. This includes street sweeping, roadside mowing, catch basin cleaning, road grading, litter control, asphalt patching , guardrail maintenance and installation, street signs and traffic signals, traffic markings, paving, drainage repair and installation, and in the winter months, plowing and sand / salt applications.

Snow Removal 

We also plow all private roads (approximately 184 miles) and grade private roads upon request with the understanding we will not sweep or clean catch basins on private roads.

Rubbish Curbside Pickup

Curbside rubbish and recycling is handled by Nauset Disposal. For any related issues please call 508-591-0948.

 

Eel Pond Bridge  ( Woods Hole Bridge)

Public Works also staffs and maintains the eel pond draw bridge. The bridge operates year round. Schedule

Beaches

We are also responsible for the maintenance of the 10 public beaches in Falmouth. This department tends to a variety of work for the beaches ranging from pre-season work, placing lifeguard chairs, rubbish and recycling containers out on the beaches as well as swim buoys and proper signage. Post-season involves beach raking, litter pick-up, and parking lot lock-up from June through Labor Day.
