Notary Public Services


 Notary Public Services are available at the Town Clerk's office during office hours. The office is located on the first floor of the Falmouth Town Hall, 59 Town Hall Square, in Falmouth. The fee for Notary is $1, per signature. You must present valid photo identification at the time the service is provided.

We do not do Real Estate Transactions (MGL Ch. 222 § 17(e)) or Wills (MGL CH 222§ 19.(i) & (ii)).

MGL Ch. 222 § 17(e)    A notary public who is not an attorney licensed to practice law in the commonwealth shall not conduct a real estate closing and shall not act as a real estate closing agent. 

MGL CH 222§ 19.(i) the notary public knows or has reason to believe that the notarial act or the associated transaction is unlawful. (ii) the principal has a demeanor that causes the notary public to have a compelling doubt about whether the principal knows the consequences of the transaction or document requiring the notarial act.
 

Commissioners to Qualify Public Officers


If you have been appointed as a Justice of the Peace or Notary Public and need to take your oath of office you may come into the office and do that in Falmouth, rather than having to go into Boston. Hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday thru Friday. Please call one hour before you are coming to assure that 2 Commissioners are present.
