Mandatory Recycling Regulations & Public Information Session

Mandatory Recycling Regulations and Public Information Session

Beginning April 14, 2023, the Town of Falmouth will enact regulations requiring all residents, guests, businesses, and institutions to recycle materials that are on Mass DEP’s Waste Ban list. This includes typical “Curbside Acceptable” recyclable items such as glass bottles, plastic and metal food and drink containers, paper, and cardboard. “Hard to Recycle” items, which must be dropped-off at the Waste Management Facility or other recycling facility, include such items as mattresses, tires, fluorescent light bulbs, TVs, and large appliances.

Commercial generators of waste and/or recyclable materials will be required to contract for private recycling services, and trash haulers will be required to offer recycling services to all of their Falmouth customers. See Town webpage for detailed information about the regulations and options for compliance.

A Public Information Session on how to comply with these regulations will be held on Wednesday, March 29 at 9:00 am in the Hermann Meeting Room at Falmouth Public Library. Falmouth Solid Waste Advisory Committee will host the meeting with representatives from the Falmouth DPW and Health Department in attendance to answer questions.
