Route 28 construction between Falmouth Heights and Central Avenue (Various locations)

MassDOT will begin work at various locations along Route 28: 
between Falmouth Heights Road and Central Avenue.

Project Location (City/Town): Falmouth

Estimated Start Date of Work: January 22, 2024

Project Type: Pedestrian and Bicycle Improvements

Description of Work: Replacing of existing curbing, sidewalks, wheelchair ramps and minor traffic light updates at intersections, to improve pedestrian and motorist safety along Route 28 from Main Street/Falmouth Heights Road to Spring Bars Road/Dillingham Avenue, then at the intersection with Maravista Avenue, the intersection with Trotting Park Road and from Rebecca Ann Lane to Central Avenue.     

Hours of Operation (Day/Night): 7 am – 3:30 pm

Description of Traffic Management: Daily traffic setups with temporary shoulder/lane closures to allow for excavation, curb installation, placement of gravel, hot mix asphalt and concrete.

Estimated Duration of Work: 3 – 4 months with deadline of May 24, 2024

PLEASE NOTE ***Drivers who are traveling through the affected areas should expect delays, reduce speed, and use caution. All scheduled work is weather dependent and/or may be impacted due to an emergency situation.
