NATIONAL SHELLFISH SANITATION PROGRAM
MOORING/SHELLFISH AREA MODIFICATIONS
The Town of Falmouth has been notified by the Mass. Division of Marine Fisheries of potential changes to several shellfish designation areas in Falmouth. The areas below may be reclassified from Approved to Conditionally Approved by DMF in order to comply with the National Shellfish Sanitation Program. In the event that happens, the areas will likely be closed to shell fishing from May 1 to November 15th annually. Finalized changes will be posted on the town web site as soon as possible.
EEL RIVER EAST:
Area west and north of a line drawn northerly from (41 33.350, -70 32.565) to (41 33.819, -70 32.142) then northeasterly to (41 33.831, -70 32.070).
Area north of a straight line drawn from the southwest corner of 20 Nichols Road (41 34.488, -70 31.692) to the dock located at 234 Metoxit Point Road, (41 34.470, -70 31.207)
GREAT HARBOR WOODS HOLE:
Area north and west of a line running from the southern end of Penzance Point (41 31.236, -70 40.941) to the southeast corner of Devil’s Foot Island (41 31.289, -70 40.740) to the southeast corner of the dock at the Woods Hole Yacht Club (41 31.611, -70 40.543)
East of a line drawn from the northern end of Gansett Point (41 32.422, -70 39.918) to the Southwestern point of The Knob (41 32.529, -70 39.649)
