Dear Falmouth Resident,
As you may know, for the past two weeks, routine residential trash and recycling collection by Republic Services has in many cases been delayed beyond the normal weekly pickup date. We apologize for this significant inconvenience to many Falmouth residents.
The week of the Fourth of July included much larger volumes of trash and recycling than we normally have experienced in the past, indicative of the very large number of visitors to the Falmouth community over this Holiday period. In
addition, the extremely heavy rains and temporary flooding experienced for several hours on Friday, July 7 resulted in an unanticipated, significant interruption in that day's normal trash and recycling collection cycle.
To adjust to this situation, Republic Services conducted an expanded pickup with additional manpower and equipment on Saturday, July 8 to make inroads in
catching up with the backlog. These efforts continue into the current week. However, some residential areas have continued to be delayed beyond their normal pick-up day. Republic has further confirmed that they will continue this expanded manpower and pickup effort through the day today and also including Saturday, July 15 (if necessary) to bring to closure this unfortunate circumstance and return to normal trash and recycling operations in our neighborhoods.
