[ARCHIVED] Summer Oyster Harvest Season in Bournes Pond

A trial recreational and commercial oyster harvest season will commence on Thursday, August 10th, 2017 and continue until Friday, August 18th, 2017 in Bournes Pond, south of a line from Sailfish Drive to Paola Drive, and north of the Bournes Pond Family Area. Israel’s Cove will remain closed. The Falmouth shellfish constable will be in the area of Pacheco Path at approximately 7:00 AM on the morning of the opening on August 10th to assist harvesters with the open areas.

Please note:

  • A reminder that in order to commercially harvest oysters during Vibrio Control season, proper icing and shading regulations are required, and commercial harvesters must have previously successfully completed Vibrio training with Falmouth Marine & Environmental Services (name must appear on the list of approved commercial harvesters).
  • For recreational harvesters it is strongly recommended to bring a cooler with ice to ice down oysters after collection.
  • Harvesters will require boat access for this oyster harvest (open areas are inaccessible by foot).
  • There will be very limited parking in the area of Pacheco Path.
