Dates: Thursday February 27th – Friday March 28th
Times: Drilling work will occur up to 12 hours/day, 7 days/week
Location: 6 offshore (marine) borings south of Falmouth Inner Harbor/Kite Park, from about 300 feet from shore to ~ 2,800 feet from shore, as well as 1 onshore (land) boring in Kite Park. Approximate soil boring locations are shown on Figure 1 below.
Description: Contractor to conduct 6 soil marine borings using a drill rig on a jack-up barge and 1 boring onshore using a standard drill rig. Figure 2 below is an example photo of a jack-up barge. Each boring will be 6 inches in diameter and approximately 100 feet deep. The jack-up barge will be visible from shore and drilling will make noise that is audible from shore, particularly for the closest borings. The onshore boring work in Kite Park will be visible and will make noise but is expected to completed within 2 days and the park area will be restored after completion.
Purpose: To collect soil data required for design of an outfall for discharge of treated wastewater.
