[ARCHIVED] ***9/10 UPDATE*** Level 2 Significant Drought

drought_status_map_september_9_2025At the most recent drought task force meeting held September 8th, 2025, the MA Drought Task Force Team announced the Cape Region would remain in a Level 2 Significant Drought. The Town of Falmouth Water Department follows the State of Massachusetts’s recommendation and guidance on drought restrictions.

Currently, our water restrictions in Level 2 Significant drought restrict outdoor watering, which means no irrigation systems should be active during this level of drought restriction. Gardens may be watered with drip irrigation only or hand watering only at this time. The Falmouth Water Department has door hangers that will be utilized in the field if they see a homeowner who has their irrigation on during this restriction. After placing a door hanger on a home, a work order will be generated to track the home and ensure our residents are following the drought restrictions. If homeowners continue to utilize their irrigation when they have been notified, a fine will be issued.
