[ARCHIVED] Route 28/Main Street Water Main Replacement Update 10/18/2019

We expect to finish the work at Locus and Main Street tomorrow, Friday.

If we do not we will come back on Monday.

Plan for next week is to have two crews working.

Crew #1

Will do the connection at Palmer Ave – Queen’s Byway – This will likely take two days. Monday and Tuesday or Tuesday and Wednesday.

We will try to maintain one lane of traffic. If we need to detour the detour will not need to be as extensive as the one we have had to set up this week.

Crew will then proceed back to Teaticket Highway and Sandwich Road and will begin installing 16 inch water main – 200 feet per day.

Crew #2

They will be working on service connections and side street tie ins working from Oxbow/Teaticket back towards Falmouth Lumber.

One lane of traffic will be maintained.

The work we did at Locust Street this week was one of the major elements, it involved a detour that impacted numerous folks, and we had to shut water off for an extended period yesterday to many residences and businesses.

The level of cooperation by the police, steamship, WHOI, and MBL was much appreciated and allowed us to concentrate on the removal of the existing water main and the installation of the new water main.
