PUBIC NOTICE HURRICANE HENRI
August 21, 2021 2:00PM
As of 11:15AM today, we are advised that Tropical Storm Henri was upgraded by the National Weather Service to Hurricane status, with sustained winds now in excess of 75 miles per hour. This storm continues to be anticipated to have a significant impact with rain and winds on the Town of Falmouth beginning late Saturday through Sunday into early Monday. All Town emergency operations departments, including Fire, Police, Public Works, Marine and Environmental Services and Communications, continue to be closely involved in planning and preparations for this coming storm event. At present, the Town anticipates standing up the Falmouth Emergency Operations Center as of midnight this evening.
All residents in low-lying areas near the West and South Coasts of Falmouth are encouraged to make preparations necessary to deal with potential temporary flooding due to rainfall and wind-driven coastal storm surges. Residents should make all necessary preparations to allow your continued safety during this storm, including ample food and water to avoid any unnecessary vehicle trips during the height of this storm. Should you experience an emergency, you should follow the normal protocol of dialing 911. Should it become necessary, the Town is prepared to open an emergency shelter and one or more warming/cooling centers to ensure the safety of Falmouth residents.
The Town webpage will be updated periodically over the coming 48 hours as this situation further develops – www.falmouthma.gov.
