Seeking Safety Group

Seeking Safety is a skills based group that explores how trauma and negative life experiences can lead to unhealthy coping skills.  The group introduces new skills to participants that can be developed and applied to real life situations.  The overarching goals are for participants to learn skills that will help to reduce triggers; regulate emotions; help to atain safety in relationships; change negative thought patterns; develop community resources; and help to empower the individuals by being a part of a supportive group.  This group is based on the Seeking Safety Program, a widely used evidenced based therapy model for adults impacted by traum a and substance abuse.  It has been adapted for adolescents who have been impacted by trauma or other negative life experiences.  The group will be 12-weeks starting in February 2022 at Gus Canty Recreationa Center from 5pm-6:30pm).  This group will be accepting Falmouth teens, who identify as female, ages 13-18 that have been impacted by trauma or other negative life experiences and have struggled to find safe ways of coping.  Group will be facilitated by Elizabeth Rodgers, LICSW of Falmouth Human Services who is a trauma specialist with over 20+ years experience working with adolescents.  Registration meeting is required with facilitator in January.  Contact Liz Rodgers at 508-548-0533 x11 with questions or to make an appointment to register.
