MES received an update from the MA DMF today regarding the shellfishing area opening in West Falmouth Harbor.
To date, the water samples collected and processed by the MA DMF all failed to meet the necessary criteria for opening the area to shellfishing. Recent heavy rains combined with warm water temperatures are likely the cause of persistent elevated fecal coliform levels.
MA DMF is scheduled to be collected a water sample for continued testing this Sunday, October 30, 2022. An update will be posted as soon as additional information becomes available.
