The Town of Falmouth in cooperation with US Fish and Wildlife Service plans to implement a controlled burn at the Coonamessett Reservation property located west of Ranch Rd. and south of Route 151. This burn is planned for the week of March 17, 2025, based on weather conditions. The approximately 22-acre burn will be conducted by Star Tree Wildfire Protection to enhance the existing sandplain grassland habitat and will also serve to control invasive plants and reduce fuel loads.
