Warming Center and Shelters:
The Falmouth warming center location for today is the Lawrence School at 113 Lakeview Ave, Falmouth. The warming center provides charging for cell phones but are not provisioned for food and cannot accept pets. The Falmouth High School is not available as a warming center today due to a generator failure.
For those requiring overnight accommodation, two Regional Emergency Shelters are currently open to the public:
- Barnstable Intermediate School
- Dennis-Yarmouth High School
- For details on regional overnight shelters see https://www.capecod.gov/department/regional-emergency-planning-committee/sheltering/regional-shelter-map/
Anyone needing transportation assistance to the Falmouth warming center or one of the regional shelters should contact the Cape Cod Regional Transit Authority (CCRTA) at 508-385-1430 and select option 2.
Water Supply:
The Town does not anticipate any interruption to the water supply. The Town has secured a generator adequate to power the Water Treatment Plant for the duration of this power outage. Eversource crews continue to work on restoring power to the site.
Snow Removal:
DPW reports approximately 70% of all Falmouth roadways have now been cleared. The Falmouth Department of Public Works has deployed all available vehicles and personnel to clear residential streets as soon as possible. The Town has engaged a private contractor to assist with tree removal to supplement Town tree crews. Through the state and Barnstable County, additional equipment and personnel have been brought in from other jurisdictions to assist with plowing operations. The Town is not able to provide specific times that residential streets will be cleared.
Power Restoration:
Eversource reports approximately 68% of Falmouth properties are without power as of 10:15am. Eversource has 142 crews working in Falmouth to restore power. Eversource reports that power is expected to be restored for the entire Cape by 6:00pm on Friday, February 27th with most locations restored sometime before then.
“We know this has been a very challenging storm for many of our residents,” said Town Manager Mike Renshaw. “We want everyone in our community to know that Town personnel are working around the clock to clear roadways as soon as possible.”
