The 2019 summer saw record numbers of visitors to our beaches. Every beach parking lot was full at least four times a week, with Old Silver being full almost everyday.
The swim program had 362 young people learning to swim. Also, as you can imagine, the Beach Department collected record receipts in the office and at pay beaches.
Beach lifeguards made nine major rescues and many minor rescue events. The Beach Department was able to assist in the new management of Good Will Park successfully.
Beach toilets will remain out until mid October. Beginning October 1st, dogs are permitted on the beaches. We ask that pet owners be responsible for their pets waste.
Going forward, we will be focusing on beach nourishment where permitted, purchasing additional trash containers, increasing handicap access, and reviewing trash collection schedules for next summer.
