On April 1, the Town of Falmouth acted to temporarily lock the existing gates on the Town’s municipal beach parking lots due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This has had a positive impact on decreasing the incidence of residents parking, gathering and lingering in groups in these same public areas. At that time, it was noted that further local actions may need to be taken to safeguard the public.
It has since come to our attention that groups have been gathering in the Quissett Harbor/Knob area in contravention of the Emergency Order of Governor Baker, unnecessarily placing residents at risk due to failure to practice the necessary social distancing to prevent the spread of this life-threatening virus.
Effective immediately, the Town of Falmouth is temporarily posting the existing parking areas immediately adjacent to Quissett Harbor Road as no parking. Occasions of illegal parking will continue to be strictly enforced by the Police Department. Those who wish to responsibly walk this area and maintain social distancing will be able to continue doing so but there is no need to park vehicles and gather in groups. We thank all residents for their understanding and support of these necessary local actions to protect the health of Falmouth residents and their families during this most critical time.
