Telephone assistance for 209A and 258E protective order applications and safety planning is available from Independence House SAFEPLAN advocates or staff attorney, Monday to Friday 9 am to 4 pm (Spanish and Portuguese assistance available).

How to receive assistance:

  • Call 800-439-6507 x238
  • On the voicemail, speak your name slowly and leave your telephone number twice. An Independence House SAFEPLAN advocate will respond to you within an hour. Note: Return calls to you will come through as a blocked number. Please unblock any restricted call access to your telephone.
  • Be sure you are in a safe place while waiting for a return call.

Independence House operates a 24-hour domestic and sexual violence hotline. Call 800-439-6507 to speak with an advocate anytime. If you are in immediate danger and the courts are closed, call 911 or go to the nearest police department.
