Tropical Storm Warning
Boat owners in Falmouth should be making preparation now for the storm expected to impact our area on Friday. (Friday morning until Friday afternoon) Winds SSW at 25-35 Knots with possible higher gusts are expected. Seas could build to 7-12 ft. In addition, rain fall may approach 1” or more.
Storm Preparedness: (Some suggested items to consider)
- Secure and protect your boat and personal property.
- Improve your docking or mooring location if particularly vulnerable
- Add additional lines and confirm they are in good condition.
- Add chafe gear protection where the lines will be in contact with sharp or rough edges and install extra fenders to prevent hull damage.
- Remove loose boating gear and secure exposed items to the boat.
- Remove sails, dinghies and coverings.
- Ensure installed bilge pumps are working properly.
Small craft moored along the shore line should be properly secured to insure they do not get washed out during the storm.
