Liz began volunteering for the soup kitchen in downtown Springfield when she was in high-school and this spurred her interest in social justice. She went on to Eckerd College where she earned a bachelor of arts in Women’s Studies and Philosophy. At college, she studied the impact of poverty on people’s lives while doing volunteer work and fundraising efforts in her local community for women to have equal access to medical care.
Liz then went on to Boston University to earn her masters in Social Work degree in 1999. Liz has worked at Gosnold, Emerson House, Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (MSPCC) and the Community Health Center where her focus shifted to working with children, teens and families specializing in treating people with trauma.
