[ARCHIVED] Emerald Properties Project Officially Launches

The town of Falmouth is looking to transform the municipally owned properties at #67 and #81 Davisville Road and wants your input. This "Emerald Properties Project" is intended to help address the ongoing affordable housing issue in town, provide a needed accessible play space, respect the historic significance of the Emerald House, and continue to provide a place for the community of all ages to use and enjoy.

Although the affordable housing and accessible play space are two parts of the larger project, their processes are different and therefore will need to be pursued separately. That being said, the town has developed a conceptual master plan for the project (located on the project website) and the details of that development scheme will be determined through the civic engagement program and in consultation with municipal staff and design professionals.

Public input is a key component of this project and over the next few months, the town will be providing numerous ways for the public to learn more about the project and provide feedback.

First, the town has developed a project website (www.emeraldpropertiesfalmouth.com) to disseminate information, provide project updates, and to collect feedback. Please take a moment to visit the site and sign up for updates to stay connected.

Then, in June and July, the Town Planner and the Housing Coordinator will be presenting the project specifics to key stakeholders, such as the East Falmouth Village Association, Affordable Housing Committee, Commission on Disabilities, Community Preservation Committee, and the Recreation Committee. These presentations are meant to spread the word about the project and provide the members with an opportunity to ask questions and provide feedback.

Finally, in the late summer, the town will hold a public meeting to discuss the project with the neighborhood and abutters, highlight the process and associated requirements, and solicit input. Comments can be submitted throughout this process by visiting the project website and clicking on “Feedback” in the menu or by emailing the Planning Department at planning@falmouthma.gov.

More information can be found on the town's website (https://www.falmouthma.gov/1403/Emerald-Properties-Project) and the project website (www.emeraldpropertiesfalmouth.com).
