We will be doing the final pavement on the segment from the School Administration Building at Sandwich Road intersection up to the Oxbow jug handle. The trench pavement has been in place long enough to get the expected settlement so we will be doing the final overlay pavement.
We will have Lawrence Lynch as a sub-contractor for this work. Traffic coming from the east towards downtown will be detoured on to Brick Kiln Road and then to Sandwich Road. Traffic coming from Downtown going to East Falmouth will continue to be allowed to use Route 28, Teaticket Highway. We will be milling ½ of the road’s width – the half that the pipe trench is on and then installing a 2 inch thick overlay/wearing course. At the intersections where we have cross trenches, we will be milling the entire width of the road. Once pavement is done we will be repainting the center line and gutter/fog lines. This work will take the entire week. We had a similar traffic plan when we paved the trenches in the Fall and overall it worked well, some inconvenience, but we got it done quick and got out of the way.
We will also be installing service connections on Main Street continuing from the Green and going eastward. Traffic will detour to Katherine Lee Bates next week.
